The Weekend

Last week my dear mother passed away - she was 91 and hadn't been well for the last 2 years.
Of course my house is now full of flowers and I received a beautiful bunch of lilies from friends in the UK - as they open up more and more each day the smell is becoming quite overpowering - they may have to be moved outside!

Today my friend, Fran and I, went out for lunch - we ended up at Evandale, a delightful village not far from Launceston. I haven't been for a long time and was able to catch up with the new statues of my husband's ancestors!

This is a full size statue of John Glover, a grandfather of my husband several generation removed. He is a famous artist and his works which were painted, mainly in the 19th century, adorn many galleries in Australia.

The other statue is another full size one of Harry Murray who was a distant relative of my husband. He fought in the first world war and was awarded many decorations for his bravery.
One day I'll read the book which was written about his exploits.
